"What will my video cost?" is a question that we often hear. It's a good question; here's our answer:

Consider producing a video in the same way as purchasing a house. Wait - it won't cost that much, it's just a metaphor.

For your house, do you want one bathroom or two? Do you want to be in an exclusive neighbourhood, live way off in the country, or have an ocean view? How many bedrooms do you want? Maybe you just need a bachelor apartment in the area where all the university students live.

As you can see, each choice leads to different costs. Now let's put this into the context of a video production. The following elements add value to your show:

Lighting
Contemporary cameras can get a good exposure in room light, however, additional lighting brings out a person's flesh tones and highlights their features.
Music
Music used for your production has to be purchased. The rate to purchase music for non-broadcast uses is affordable.
Visual effects
Dissolves, wipes, page turns, compositing (layering several video images on top of each other) etc. all take time to create in an edit suite; the more of these element you require, the more expensive your video may become.
Visual bridges
Adding a montage between different sections of your video makes the message flow much smoother and gives the viewer a chance to comprehend information.
